2025 HPLR Summer Institute

The Summer Institute is a premier academic initiative designed to spotlight the voices of incoming first-year students with an interest in law, policy, and advocacy. Hosted by the Hispanic Pre-Law Review (HPLR), the editorial branch of the Hispanic Pre-Law Society (HPLS), this summer program offers a unique opportunity for rising scholars to publish original written work before their college journey even begins.

Participants will engage in the full editorial process — from drafting an article to receiving personalized feedback from HPLR’s editorial board — and will be featured in our official publication. Whether writing a legal opinion, policy analysis, or research-backed commentary, students are encouraged to explore how their lived experiences, cultural identities, attentiveness to legal and societal developments, and emerging academic interests intersect with the law.

Through this program, participants will:

  • Develop their voice as writers and future legal thinkers

  • Join a community of driven Latine pre-law students

  • Receive mentorship and editorial support

  • Publish their work in a professional, student-led review

The Summer Institute aims to celebrate the power of early perspective. We believe that legal insight doesn’t begin in law school — it begins the moment students start asking questions, challenging systems, and putting their ideas into words.

All articles must be submitted by Friday, July 19, 2025 at 11:59 PM EST to be considered for publication in the Summer Institute. Please reach out to our Co-Editors-in-Chief, José or Mariley, if you have any additional questions, inquiries, or concerns.
