New York, New York — [April 11, 2026] — To select the next Editors-in-Chief, the Hispanic Pre-Law Review (HPLR) convened a Selection Committee composed of members of both the HPLR and Hispanic Pre-Law Society Executive Boards. The Committee reviewed all applications and invited a select group of candidates to interview in person. During interviews, Committee members evaluated candidates using a standardized scoring form based on their responses. Final decisions were informed by these scores, alongside interview notes and application materials.

The Committee unanimously selected Jazzlee Cerritos (CC ‘28) and Rafael Vanuno (GS’27) as the next Editors-in-Chief. Cerritos and Vanuno succeed José Caballero (CC’26).

“Jazzlee and Rafael are agile and determined. As Managing Editors, they have earned the trust of our staff, and I am excited for their tenure as Editors-in-Chief,” said Caballero.

Cerritos hails from Tennessee, and Vanuno from Florida. Both previously served as Managing Editors at HPLR and bring a strong skill set to the Editorial Board. They have contributed to major on-campus publications, including the Columbia Undergraduate Law Review and the Columbia Journal of Literary Criticism. Cerritos was an Advising Fellow at Matriculate, a nonprofit that provides free college advising to high school students. Vanuno was an Education Intern at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, where he led tours for public schools across the five boroughs.

“HPLR has been an integral part of my college experience, and I am honored to take on a more direct role as Co-Editor-in-Chief. I am excited to start working with our talented staff to publish meaningful legal analyses that promote the intersection of legal scholarship and Hispanic affairs,” said Cerritos.

“I’m honored to lead the work of our writers and editors as Co-Editor-in-Chief, through the Review’s legal analyses. I look forward to advancing the mission of the publication and publishing timely pieces that aim to expand our understanding of the law in conjunction with Hispanic affairs,” said Vanuno.

They assume leadership at a time of growth for the publication, and the Selection Committee is confident that their skill set will build on the strong foundation established by prior teams.
